This online course is the second in a series of two short courses covering basic and intermediate chemistry with applications for water and wastewater utilities. Although not required, it is recommended that learners complete the first course in the series before attempting the second course. The material in this course is demanding and assumes the ability to manipulate and solve simple arithmetic formulas. This second course covers intermediate chemistry topics and specific applications including oxidation and reduction reactions, water softening, iron and manganese, fluoride/fluoridation, corrosion control, and introductions to organic chemistry, biochemistry, and nuclear chemistry.
