Puppy kindergarten class is for puppies six to sixteen weeks of age using only positive training methods. In addition to basic "manners" you will cover nutrition, grooming, and first aid. Most importantly are the "socialization" periods in each class. It is during this time that the puppy learns proper etiquette and that the owner will learn what constitutes acceptable puppy behavior.
For young dogs over six months of age. Basic good manners, plus games and tricks are covered. Instruction includes basic good manners with the main focus on obedience commands. Games for fun, "tricks" for alleviating boredom, and what to do about separation anxiety will also be covered.
Dog Agility class is for dogs six months of age or older and that have taken either a puppy class or basic obedience class - or on approval by the instructors. Dog Agility builds confidence in your dog, builds your relationship with your dog, is great mental and physical exercise for your dog and you, and is a total blast! What you learn: Jumping, tunneling, retrieving, "pause" board, and weave poles. This class is structured for dogs over 6 months of age.
This course will introduce the students to the mushroom flora of Southeast Alaska. Focus will be on the use of taxonomic keys for identification of fungi and recognition of edible and poisonous mushrooms. Cooking and preservation of mushrooms will be discussed. Field trips will be followed by in-class identification of collected mushrooms. Students should dress for outdoor field trips. Maximum enrollment 18 and minimum enrollment 10.
