This course provides fire prevention and fire fighting training and skills development for anyone who works at a harbor or marina.
Almost certainly marina personnel will be first responders to a fire in their facility. Understanding the causes, how to fight a fire, and how to work with the local fire departments saves lives, property and environmental damage. This course covers the basics of fire, fire fighting, fire prevention, and the interface between harbor personnel and fire departments as well as policy and planning. Actual examples are used to teach. Because marina employees have local knowledge of their facilities, they are a critical asset in unified fire responses. This course prepares them to be that asset. This course is part of the Career Training for Ports and Marinas program. Work done is on your own time within a designated period of time. Requirements for the class: must have a computer with internet access, speakers OR headphones, personal email address, Adobe Flash Player.
